My grandfather was a beekeeper in his times. And I had no idea until I started working with beeswax.
My mom suddenly shared that this is what my grandfather used to do as she was growing up.
That made me teary eyed.
It is such a nice connection to someone who I spent time as a boy and didn’t get to before he was no longer with us.
But. He lives on daily because of this medium that I CHOSE to incorporate.
BEESWAX.
A natural wax produced by honey bees to build their hives, protect their young and keep their honey. It is composed of mainly fatty acids and alcohols.
Beeswax has an extensive list of uses. Everything from being a lubricant, to a waterproofing agent, as a polish, candles, hair and skin care products.
Beeswax is edible and approved for use in food in most countries. However, it lacks any nutritional value due to its inability to be broken down in your system.
When we first started working with Beeswax we used it as a candle. Our candles were made of 100% pure Beeswax. Making them the perfect natural air purifier available to us.
But wait, an air purifier?! Yep you heard it right. When you burn pure beeswax it releases negative ions that will attach themselves to the positive ions in smog, smoke, dust, allergens, pollen and other environmental pollutants. It attaches itself to these essentially negating them and purifying the air in your home while also providing a nice yellow glow similar to the sun.
My favorite and only type of candle i burn now.
But what about skincare?!
Beeswax has been used in skin care for thousands of years. For a variety of reasons. These are the reason why we chose beeswax. It contains antibacterial, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. It can be used for protection from environmental pollutants and it can provide gentle exfoliation.
Beeswax’s antibacterial and antimicrobial properties are so helpful when treating minor cuts, scrapes, irritated skin, bug bites, sun burns, can protect you from radical damage and any environmental stressors that could cause issues on your skin!
Beeswax can protect you from things such as pollution, UV radiation and any harsh weather conditions you may run into. it does this by creating a natural shield on your skin, trapping moisture in your skin and leaving the pollutants out!
Beeswax is also a gentle exfoliator. It can help remove impurities and any unnecessary buildup on the top layers of your skin without causing tears or irritating the skin making it specially suitable for lip balms and masks.
And these are just SOME of the properties that Beeswax has. These properties make it such a good pick when choosing alternative products for your skin that wont cause irritation or any other undesired effects.
These are some of the reason why we chose to work with Beeswax in our Beeswax Healing Lotion Bars and our Beeswax Candles.
There are so many other great benefits to beeswax as well as many other uses. Do not be fooled by this amazing ingredient that is here to save your skin!
